Dear all

Happy First Sunday of Christmas!

On this last Sunday of 2020, at our online service, Revd Barbara Sheppard reflected on this question: Why did Jesus have to come? For God so loved the world that he gave his only son… to offer humanity an experience and model of generous compassion, inclusion, provision, sacrifice, invitation and intention… in the greatest gift of all, God among us! Immanuel!

And, perhaps, this radical call to be Christ like is expressed in this song that Barbara shared with us: ‘Nothing More’ by The Alternate Routes.

Many thanks to all who contributed to today’s worship event: Brenda (leading); Jon, Malcolm and Julie (readers); Brenda (prayers); Malcolm and Richard for playing for us. Thank you to all who gathered for this afternoon’s service.

Today we said ‘good bye’ to Tony Njoroge, who has been on placement with us in the benefice for the last six weeks. We have been blessed by his presence among us. We take this opportunity to wish him every blessing on his onward journey of discernment with the Church of England.

We look forward to welcoming Revd Judy Ashby in the new year as she ministers across the benefice.

May I take this opportunity to wish you God’s blessing as we approach and enter 2021!

Upholding you in my prayers,

Revd Dr Catherine Mark Okoronkwo
