Dear Friends
Happy March!

Lent offers us an opportunity for self-examination and self-reflection on how our relationship with God is doing? Do we have a healthy friendship with Jesus? Are there situations in our lives which are distracting us from spending time with God? Is our friendship with Jesus flourishing? For sure, no relationship is perfect and we can have seasons in our lives when our faith is strong, and other times when it is struggling. But the promise is that God is always present, seeking opportunities to reveal more of himself to us.

As we walk with Jesus towards the cross, I wonder what new revelations you have of who God is in your life. Do you recognise Jesus as the Messiah, the Saviour? Many in Jesus’ times failed to truly understand who Jesus was and the purpose of his mission on earth. And, isn’t this true for ourselves, that sometimes we fail to see Jesus at work in our lives and in our communities. Perhaps, we might be encouraged this Lent to spend time with God asking our Creator to guide and lead us through the valleys, mountain-top and humdrum moments of life.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. — John 3.16 NRSVA

May we hold a posture of expectancy as we prepare to celebrate Easter and proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in our communities of Gorse Hill and Ferndale.

Every blessing,
Revd Catherine Okoronkwo
